We understand that this release is deemed a “Premium Version” by virtue of the fact that it includes wooden deck, photo-etched parts, brass chain, etc together with a limited 1,500 production run.

Fairly acurate and excellent quality model I went for this kit because i wanted to build a very authentic Titanic model. The big plus in this kit are the wooden decks and the photo-etch parts, which really make this model come to life.

I am not aware of any other plastic Titanic kits which offer the wooden planking, it's a really big gain of realism. There are however a few inaccuracies with the 1:400 Academy Titanic. The usual problems which most models have (Revell, Minicraft) like the missing port holes @ the stern are present, but this model also has a very poor welldeck and funnel design.

Though nothing you can't get around by doing some modifications. If you are having trouble choosing whether to go with the 1:350 Minicraft or this one, i think it depends on your skill, the minicraft will be easier because of it's bigger size and greater acuracy, though the Academy if done correctly will offer more realism in the end, mainly due to the wooden decks.
