The walking wounded, shudder, bayside, and sirens and condolences (descending order, most played -> least played) have all been staples in my paper-writing playlist since the great fall of '08 (freshman year of squallege, post scened out days). Good thing my favorite sad band just released their sixth full-length, killing time, just in time for midterm season. Bayside's albums have been remarkably formulaic, and killing time is no exception. Each of the four records mentioned previously opens with a hard, fast, catchy riff, as does killing time (listen to the opening track, 'already gone,' below). A bayside album will no doubt include one song that sounds remarkably different from the others; this time, it's 'on love, on life,' a piano ballad with a synth-cello(?), an almost-inaudible clap track, and a confusingly catchy beeping horn noise near the end of the track. Other highlights include a bunch of songs that sound good when you listen to them all in a row.
