What amazes me is when I check it with the elements horizontal it is 3 to 1. If I just loosen the mount and turn it 90 deg where the elements are vertical it is now 1.5 to 1 and I do understand with the mast in the middle instead of the end it would skew the pattern when the elements are vertical.

I just don't understand why the SWR is so high when horizontal yet. I think I will try and move the mount back to the end and see how that affects it both in the vertical and horizontal position.

Oh all the screws are new SS, all connections were cleaned, boom was cleaned before putting the elements on and I put penetrox where the elements fit against the boom. So I will double check all connections. The coax is brand new and I went out after I read your comments and checked it to be ok. So will try putting the mount back on the end of the boom and test both vertical and horizontal. If nothing changes will put the 3 70 cm elements back in place and try again.
